Bem-vindos a todos ao Festa dos Santos Populares!
Welcome to the Popular Saints Festival
Friday, June 12th at 6pm. Celebrate the start of summer Portugal-style in honor of St. Anthony, the patron saint of Lisbon, and St. John, the patron saint of Porto. Located in Woodbury’s “Little Portugal” neighborhood (a.k.a. Rev. Tony’s backyard), partygoers will meet members from the UU Congregation of Danbury and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Woodbury, as well as some of the “locals” from the neighborhood. Together we'll enjoy festive food and drink, decorations, music, and fun – including tapping each other on the head with a small plastic mallet. The menu is delicious, authentic Portuguese street food: sardinhas grelhadas (grilled sardines), Bifanas (pork sandwiches), caldo verde (kale and potato soup), malasadas (fried dough), and fresh tomato and cucumber salads, with pasteis de nata (custard tarts) for dessert along with plenty of vinho verde (green wine), Portuguese style sangria, and a selection of Sumol fruit sodas.
Two ways to attend: purchase tickets outright at $100 each or buy a raffle ticket for $5 to be entered in a drawing for a pair of tickets. On sale until sold out with raffle drawing during the Sunday service on May 24th. Payment is by cash, card, or check.
