At UU Meriden, the heart of our congregation is its people. We celebrate the skills, time, and dedication of our lay leaders, whose work helps shape and sustain our vibrant congregational life.
As part of our Unitarian Universalist commitment to the democratic process, we elect our leaders from within the congregation, honoring the belief that shared leadership strengthens our community.
The Board of Trustees serves on behalf of the congregation to guide and oversee our policies, ministries, operations, and finances. Together, they help ensure the mission and values of UU Meriden thrive both today and into the future.
Current Board Members:
Nancy Burton, President
Kristy Goodrich, Vice President
Tim O'Brien, Treasurer
Sara Whalen, Secretary
While the Board of Trustees is tasked with day-to-day management of the congregation there are also ministries of the church. A Committee on Ministry provides an opportunity for leaders of committees and groups dealing with these ministries to meet and share ideas of how to support each other and the mission of the church. Examples of these committees are the Social Justice Council, the Pastoral Care Team, and the Membership Committee. The chairperson of the Committee on MInistry is elected by the congregation. The current Chairperson of the Committee on Ministry is Peg Kirkpatrick. Although not a voting member of the Board of Trustees, the Chairperson of the COM attends BOT meetings and the two entities work closely together.
